Children are obliged to wear a school uniform, and the support we have from parents for this policy is very encouraging. Apart from the school tie, which can only be bought through the school, all items of the uniform can be obtained from most shops specialising in children's clothing. There is no monopoly supplier of uniform to St. Kentigern's School, and parents have a wide choice available to them. The school uniform approved by the Governing Body is listed below -
Girls
Grey Skirt, tunic or pinafore dress.
Plain white blouse or shirt.
School tie.
Bottle green cardigan or pullover.
White socks.
Indoor footwear, (not trainers).
Boys
Grey trousers.
Plain white/grey shirt.
Bottle green pullover.
School tie.
Indoor footwear, (not trainers).
Summer school wear, (optional)
Girls
Summer dress, either yellow/green striped or check.
Plain Yellow/Green tee-shirt.
Boys
Plain yellow/green tee-shirt.
Short grey trousers.
Please note all children are expected to change their footwear when entering the building, particularly in the areas containing expensive technology and equipment like the ICT suite and Brainzone. This helps keep these areas cleaner and reduces the risk of damage to the equipment. Indoor footwear, (pumps, sandals, shoes), should be left in school in a proper shoe/pump bag. It is essential that all school uniform be marked clearly with the child's name as children frequently lose their clothing.
The wearing of jewellery in school is not allowed for reasons of safety and security. Watches can be worn but parents should note that the school cannot accept responsibility for their safekeeping.
No etched hair designs or extreme haircuts such as mohican styles.
